Every time I hear about somebody going out and tuning the Porsche 911 Turbo I feel like they’re almost wastefully doing something with their time.
It almost always escapes my understanding, it’s already one of the fastest cars out there, why not just let it be? Simply because the Germans at Techart can’t.
So here’s what they’ve come up with, the TA 097/T3 is a rear engined monster that can develop as much as 700 horsepower with a maximum torque of 649 lb-ft, quite a world away from the original 500 ponies.
Techart still uses the same basic 3.8 liter flat six Porsche has been developing for years only they’ve teamed it with new sporty air filters, manifolds, and the tuner’s special VTG turbochargers as well as some high performance intercoolers.
All those modifications and all of the added horsepower means that the Techart Porsche 911 Turbo can now go from 0 to 62 in as little as 2.8 seconds.
Hacking into the sub 3.0 second time is no easy fit but the German collaboration has managed just that. Other impressive performance features come in at a 0 to 124 mph of just 9 seconds and a new top speed.
That figure now stands at a very hypercar like 219 mph, the sort of stuff that gives any petrolhead some serious shivers.
