I’m sure plenty of boy racers out there feel like the 2011 Opel Astra isn’t enough of a performance car for them.

Inspired by the Opel Astra GTC concept, the 2012 Opel Astra OPC is closing in on a production model as it’s just recently been seen in testing around the Nurburgring.

Sadly, the camouflage Opel’s Performance Center uses isn’t exactly see through but we were able to see a few interesting details.

The current highlights imply Brembo brakes under 21 inch alloy wheels and dual exhaust pipes at each end of the rear bumper.

Once that’s settled, almost nothing is visible on the body kit, hood or window line we might as well talk about the engine.

Under the bonnet we’ll find a turbocharged 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that has an output in the region of 290 horsepower.

In true crazy hot Astra fashion, all of those horses will be going through a six speed gearbox towards the front wheels only.

In order to keep it somewhat under control, the Opel Astra OPC gets a limited slip differential but with this sort of performance unless it’s something like the Ford Focus RS, it’s probably not going to work.

Even so, I suppose the 2012 Opel Astra OPC beats the option of getting a regular Astra which has some tuning done.
