For all those times we’ve seen it unveiled we’re finally getting the chance to see the Mini Paceman unveiled as a production model.

The British company is doing brilliantly on its own, and they’ve grown a lot under the wing of BMW. With this new model they’ve created the perfect modern vehicle.

No. I have not lost my mind. You can forget modern cars that feel right, have clever technology and all that lot. This one stands out for a different reason.

It’s a car people today want. They want a stylish car, one that has a 4×4 appeal and presence but one that doesn’t harm the environment very much.

Yes, it’s a compromised machine, but as long as it serves a compromised purpose, it’s obviously doing better than we might have thought to begin with.

The 2013 Mini Paceman is available with four types of engine upon launch. Two of them are 1.6 liter petrols with 122 and 184 horsepower (turbo power on the second one).

The other two engines are likely to be even more popular as they run on diesel and develop 112 or 143 horsepower from a 1.6 and a 2.0 liter diesel unit.

As is fashionable with these modern vehicles; there’s a lot of choice available when it comes putting that power down.

A six speed manual is standard but you can have a six speed automatic if you wish. Front wheel drive is the standard bit but AWD is on the options list.

In Europe, the 2013 Mini Paceman will be available starting in March next year.
