Chevrolet decided to release official information on the new electric version of the Spark, a model which will be shown in world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Under the hood we will find a permanent magnet motor able to deliver around 135 horsepower and 542Nm of torque. With such resources, the tiny American model does the 0-100 km/h acceleration in eight seconds.
The new Spark EV comes with a 20kWh lithium-ion battery mounted under the rear seats. A complete charge of the battery takes around seven hours using a standard 240V outlet but a fast charger able is able to provide an 80% charge in just 20 minutes.
“Spark EV’s battery has undergone more than 200,000 hours of testing in our global battery systems labs,” says Chevrolet.
The American car maker plans to begin production of the new Spark EV next year, first units to be delivered starting next summer in California.
