The British folks at Land Rover decided to set a record at the Pikes Peak hill climb with the new Range Rover Sport. Aiming to obtain the best time for a production model in its class, the new sporty Range Rover completed the route in 12 minutes and 35 seconds.
The British SUV averaged a speed of 95 km/h on the 20-kilometer hill climb. The actual model received a roll cage and special harnesses, being powered by a 5.0-liter V8 petrol unit producing 510 horsepower.
Otherwise, we talk about a production version which managed to tackle the quite though conditions, especially at the top, at an altitude of 4,300 meters.
With the new Range Rover Sport setting this record for production SUVs, it remains to be seen which car makers will decide to break it and how soon this will happen.
