Following the Picanto`s official presentation last month, along with the introduction of the GT-Line package, the South Korean based carmaker Kia has now released more details with the model, including the new engines.

Besides the GT-Line variant which comes with a sportier design language, thanks to the new front and rear bumpers and new alloy wheels, the 2017 Kia Picanto standard model is also coming with some improved visuals and new mechanics.

In order to make room for the new engines, Kia had to revised the car`s architecture, adding a series of mods, like the PacPherson strunt front and torsion beam rear suspension, stabiliser bar which is now 2% stiffer at the front and 5% at the rear.

The model also comes with a stretched wheelbase, shorter overhang for increase driving capabilities and stability. There is also the new steering rack that provides a guicker ratio of around 13% , which automatically leads to a much sportier stance and feel.

Inside, the technology comprises a new ”floating” 7.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, USB, adding as well improved materials all around the cabin.

As aforementioned, the big surprise is under the hood, where the all-new Kia Picanto received a 1.0-liter with 49 kW and 96 Nm of torque, followed by a 1.25-liter naturally aspirated mill, developing 62 kW and 122 Nm of torque. The carmaker is also planning to introduce in a premiere a 1.0-liter turbo T-GDI with 74 kW and 172 Nm of torque. Pricing details will be revealed at a later date.
