The South-Korean based manufacturer Kia has been working on a new range of mild-hybrid engines for quite some time now, engines that would make its model range more fuel-efficient and more powerful as well.

One particular model to receive such mild-hybrid engine is the brand-new 2019 Kia Sportage Mild-Hybrid, which is now coming with a diesel engine paired to a high-voltage battery pack, all part of the company`s new EcoDynamic+ 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain.

The powertrain comprises a fresh 2.0-liter ‘R’ diesel and a 48 Volt battery. However, the Korean carmaker has not yet released the power and torque figures. Also, according to new reports, it should be more powerful than the new 1.6 U3 diesel engine replacing the 1.7 one, and which comes with two power variants – 115 PS and 136 PS, respectively.

At the exterior, the 2019 Kia Sportage Mild-Hybrid comes with new highlights, which make it more attractive and appealing. First off, we have a wide choice of new exterior colours, along with 16-, 17- and 19-inch alloy wheels, updated bumpers and lights, chrome sill trims and metallic skid plates. All are available in the entry-level variant.

On the other hand, the GT-Line adds more updates like gloss black hot-stamped radiator grille, dark chrome inserts on the side sills and rear tailgate, as well as gloss black and silver skid plate.

The cabin also looks refreshed thanks to the new black-and-grey two-tone upholstery and new steering wheels. Technology wise, the interior has an updated instrument cluster, Smart Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Around View Monitor or a choice of 7- or 8-inch infotainment systems.

The 2019 Kia Sportage Mild-Hybrid SUV will arrive in European dealerships this autumn, with prices and other important details to be revealed prior to their launch.
