I’d love to say that the tried and tested recipe of an American drivetrain underneath a finely crafted Italian body shape works for the Zagato TZ3 Stradale but I don’t think so.
Italian coachbuilder Zagato has quite the tradition and history in the world of cars that light petrolheads hearts on fire, but this time something is missing.
The excellent basis of the extremely fast Dodge Viper ACR isn’t wrong, who could complain when accessing this sort of performance.
Also, the Alfa Romeo styling does look pretty good, it seems to look extremely tempting from some angles but from others, it does look like a Viper.
The Dodge Viper, on its own isn’t a bad looking vehicle, but when its DNA is mixed with cues from two fine Italian brands such as Alfa Romeo and Zagato, there’s a certain feel of compromise.
A 600 horsepower 8.4 liter V10 engine, a 6-speed manual gearbox and a race-spec suspension clearly softens the deal, but us petrolhead freaks can’t handle stuff that’s less than perfect once the above ingredients are mentioned.
Be that as it may, the Zagato TZ3 Stradale is going to be remembered as the latest gift Alfa Romeo is going to receive for its 100th anniversary, you know, the one that happened last year.
