Ariel is a company that pretty much works out of garage and brings a limited number of track cars to the discerning customer.
For most, the Ariel Atom looks nothing more than an evolved go-cart, but for those that have seen it on the track, it is the toy to have.
Recently, the British car maker announced their Ariel Atom 3.5R, the latest of their cars, which is able to develop 350 Hp, 40 Hp more than the base model. It might not seem like much, but considering the 550 kg weight, the modified 2.0 liter Honda Civic Type R engine will propel the Atom to 96 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, all for £80.000.
Add some Öhlins springs, adjustable limited-slip differential and TTX adjustable dampers, and the Ariel Atom 3.5R is ready to tear into the track. Of course, the car maker might insist that the car is also street legal, but taking this baby into city traffic is more of a chore than a pleasure. Stick to the tracks and you’ll be fine.
