This year, Audi celebrates 20 years until the first RS model, the legendary RS 2 Avant, first hit the production line. At that time, the car was the lineup performance car of the Audi`s 80 Avant Wagon, the forthcoming A4 Avant, leading the way to a whole new era of RS models in the years to follow.
As a tribute to the RS 2 Avant, the German sport car automaker will launch a special edition called the RS 4 Avant Nogaro, to debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
Just like the RS Avant 2, the RS Avant 4 Nogaro will come with an exclusive blue paint body, which is a reminder of the two victories achieved by Frank Biela on the Nogaro circuit in the French Touring Car Championship of 1993.
Since the RS 2 sported a turbocharged 2.2-liter five-cylinder engine back in the old times with 315 hp, the RS 4 Avant Nogaro selection takes pride with its 4.2-liter V8 engine, taken from the regular RS 4, developing 450 horsepower.
The RS 4 hits the 62 mph in just 4.7 seconds, a little bit on the edge, since the old pro RS 2 used to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in around 5.4 seconds.
The new special edition will go on sale after Geneva, with a price set at €87,300.
