After… hours of interest, several months later from the first moment we were told about this, BMW finally announced their new environmentally focused sub brand.
We’ve all heard about the BMW Megacity, the ActiveE, we’ve even been notified when the Bavarians registered some model names but we never expected this.
As it happens, BMW registered those names with the brand name along. That’s because the new BMW eco sub brand is called simply, “i”.
Unlike like most EV crowds around here, the electric stuff the Bavarians design will have a ridiculous “i” within the name, these will actually be the stupid “i”.
Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson once said that if the car has an “i” in the name it will tell people that it is eco, that’s because environmentalists are stupid. There are many things on which Clarkson is wrong but this isn’t one of them.
I really consider that BMW could have been a lot more imaginative in naming their “green” sub brand.
Even so, we did also get sketches of the two first cars that will be available under BMW’s new brand, the i3 and the i8.
Frankly, I would rather have read about the Chinese more than this because this is completely rubbish.
