BMW’s Megacity, the electric car supposed to rewrite the EV rulebook jumps to our attention once more as several sources promote information regarding it’s price.

The situation seems to be dire, as in most of these sources claim that when it goes on sale in 2013, the BMW Megacity will be expensive.
We all know expensive is a relative term but what’s most important is how will this affect the final product.

It must be about a couple of months since we’ve had BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer come forward and speak about the BMW Megacity. In doing so, he made one thing abundantly clear.
The Bavarians don’t expect profitability from the Megacity or from any of their EV products.
Back then it didn’t seem very relevant. Now that we hear the BMW Megacity will be expensive and yet BMW will still fail to make money off it two things jump into my mind.
Firstly, perhaps BMW has changed strategies and plans to make the Megacity expensive enough to cover some of the costs. Secondly, there’s the option that’s not as good for BMW but it is brilliant for the customer.

Perhaps even at that “expensive” mark, the BMW Megacity will be worth more than you’re paying for it. Imagine a downsizing of the Bugatti Veyron’s financial effort at VW.
