When working in this sort of business from time to time a little birdie will land on your window frame and start to speak of things you didn’t know.

This time, the little birdie told me that Cadillac is working on developing a hybrid powertrain for their SRX crossover.
While I didn’t imagine anything of the like, a Cadillac SRX Hybrid isn’t as far fetched or as surprising as you’d imagine.
In actual reality, the existence of a Cadillac crossover plugin hybrid has been foretold by something almost forgotten. I’m talking about the way GM sent the Chevrolet Volt’s platform round through the family.

When GM did that, Cadillac came up with the Converj concept that barely missed a production status. I know the Converj wasn’t an actual crossover but it lead the way for General Motors to sell the Voltec platform under different badges and skins.

It seems that pending the Chevrolet Volt, the Cadillac SRX may be the nearest thing we get to a plugin family car. Well, at least one that also has extended range capability at least.
