What about a turbo Camaro? What about a 2-litre engine for Camaro? What do you think about this idea? Chevrolet says it’s a great one, and costs only 39.900€!
It’s the sixth Camaro generation and it’s lighter, more powerful and more efficient than the last one. Chevrolet expects it to become the segment’s benchmark, and that’s not an easy task. To achieve it, the engineers focused in three directions: design, technology and performance. The perfect combination between all three is meant to keep close the Camaro enthusiasts with the iconic design, thrill them with increased performance and bring new buyers thanks to its innovative engineering solutions.
Despite the new athletic and sculptural body lines, the car has been repeatedly tested in the wind tunnel, being therefore as aerodynamic and stable as possible. Though it looks lower and wider than the outgoing generation, it exterior dimensions are smaller within 5 cm. It is also 28% more rigid and more than 90 kg lighter, to deliver a totally new driving experience. Exclusively for the V8 engine, the Magnetic Ride Control system is available as an option. It’s an active suspension that interprets the driving data at an incredible frequency of 1.000 times per second, adjusting instantly the dampers for the best response.
The engines line isn’t an exclusive naturally-aspirated business anymore. The first turbo engine ever mounted under a Camaro bonnet is a common 4 cylinder, 2.0 litre. Or not? Not quite, since it develops 276 hp and 400 Nm, pushing the car to 100 km/h in less than six seconds. Though it’s not the fastest or the most spectacular engine in Camaro range, it is undoubtedly the most efficient one. And now, the heavy artillery: the more than three times larger naturally-aspirated V8 6.2l produces 453 hp and 617 Nm of torque, yet managing to be 25% more economical than its previous generation, when equipped with automatic transmission.
