This seems to be the path Nissan chose for their Ellure concept. The Nissan Ellure is said to portray the future of their sedan designs.

And that’s very good, because I really like the look of it. I can still see some Nissan Primera DNA within but this actually looks good.

The Nissan Ellure borrows a few elements from the Juke “fun” design but the two cars have completely different demographic targets.

Naturally, there’s still some concept wackiness built in, stuff like rear hinged doors, headlamps that aren’t completely legal and even the wheels that seem to be destined for large SUVs.

But there are a few things on the Nissan Ellure concept that are pretty much production ready. There’s the powertrain that uses a 2.5 liter inline four cylinder engine with supercharging and a 25 kilowatt electric motor.

All of this frantic power will be sent through an Xtronic CVT which relays it towards the Nissan Ellure’s front wheels.
