Not everything that got to be shown off at the Detroit Motor Show was known, expected or previewed. Chevrolet’s newly unveiled Tru 140S concept is the perfect case in point.

Apart from the whole unexpected part, the real surprise of the Chevrolet Tru 140S concept is that it seems to foresee what an exotic car the American company could make.

It really is a thing of beauty and since it basically uses the same platform as Chevrolet Cruze so a real, production version of this new concept could be on the cards.

Naturally, it’s too early for the bowtie brand’s representatives to admit anything on that front but we can still hope.

Further increasing the appeal of the new concept is the fact that it comes with something completely approved by all enthusiasts alike: rear wheel drive.

Since this is likely to be a cheap offering, you can wave goodbye to the flappy paddle ultra advanced dual clutch gearboxes and look for traditional options of a six speed auto and manual shifter.

The engine to animate all of this stuff and the beautiful body is one of their most modern units to date, the 1.4 liter turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant.

This engine gives the Chevrolet Tru 140S Concept a total output of 150 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque.

Add in a light construction and some 25.000 dollars per unit and the appeal just doesn’t seem to end.

Particularly as it still does 40 mpg and is filled with all sorts of electronic gadgets to please the IT enthusiast in anybody.
