There are plenty reasons why a car manufacturer should recall a model, some more serious than others, and Ferrari just issued one recall for their 458 Italia model.
The recall affects only 3.082 units of their US-specced Italia, and the issue relates to the trunk of the car.
Now, before I tell you exactly what is wrong with the trunk, you have to know that most Ferrari’s trunks are capable of holding 1, maybe 2 women’s purses. They are not what you call a serious storage space. The problem affecting the Italia model is a faulty interior release handle.
It seems that there is a high risk of getting stuck inside the trunk of a Ferrari Italia, with the interior latch only detaching the trunk lid, and not opening it. While we can debate the necessity of this law for weeks, Ferrari just complied and will offer a free fix for all owners.
