As Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear famously said, buying an open top Ferrari supercar may very well be the biggest mistake of your life.
If you’re willing to take the chance of making such a mistake, the Italians will soon have such an option ready for you in the form of the Ferrari 458 Spider.
Based on what is right now the hottest car out there, the Ferrari 458, this new convertible version is probably going to be just as good to drive as the coupe is.
That is, if history is to tell us anything and if Ferrari’s engineering squad is to be believed.
Speaking of their engineering squad, we’ve been hearing rumors about how the Ferrari 458 Spider’s roof may be a special contraption of sorts, we don’t get to see it right now.
Getting back to what we clearly know, is how the Ferrari 458 Spider will retain that glorious 4.5 liter naturally aspirated high revving V8 the Coupe has.
There’s bound to be a bit of a re-tune going on but it will still develop somewhere in the region of 570 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque.
Coupled with a slightly less stiff but still incredible chassis, a seven speed dual clutch transmission and the lovely idea of rear wheel drive, you can clearly see why hopes are as high as possible for the Ferrari 458 Spider.
