The Blue Oval may be doing brilliantly in America lately but in Europe things have gone a bit downhill which isn’t really something to be proud about.

That’s not because the cars are worse, modern Euro Fords are brilliant. The problem is in the enthusiast cars.

With the Ford Mondeo no longer having a hot version, with the Ford Focus getting ugly and with no actual coupe available the Europeans feel somewhat disappointed.

In an attempt to attract some attention to themselves, Ford of Europe promises a new limited edition for the Fiesta.

I will admit, it’s not exactly the red chili hot hatchback I was expecting but it’s still a fun car.

The Ford Fiesta Sport+ promises some go faster stripes, 1.6 liter Duratec Ti-VCT engine that not only has a geeky name put also develops 134 horsepower and 118 lb-ft of torque to satisfy your right foot.

The actual figures aren’t completely impressive as I said before but at 8.7 seconds to hit 60 and a top whack of 121 mph should be plenty for this sort of car.

What really annoys me about this car is how Ford is only going to be offering it in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

That’s a sad moment and it’s the sort of thing that has us all thinking about Cosworth Fords or at least the Mondeo ST220.
