As you well know, Hot Wheels mainly deals in toy cars, so when you hear they are presenting a Darth Vader car, nothing seems out of the ordinary, right?
Wrong. It seems that this car is actually a full sized, fully functional vehicle, and it looks as bad as you might expect.
The project was taken on by Hot Wheels in collaboration with Mattel and Picture Car Warehouse. Underneath sits a Corvette C5 chassis with power coming from a tuned V8 LS3 engine, a full 526 Hp of it. And that is not even the best part. The highlight of the custom build is the visual appearance.
Looking at this car, most Star Wars fans will recognize plenty of elements taken straight from Darth Vader’s iconic helmet. From the front grille to the rear, the Darth Vader car from Hot Wheels does the movie character justice. It will be displayed at the San Diego Comic-Con, and while I doubt they will sell it (at least not yet) some 1:64 versions will be made available for fans.
