Soon after some pictures of their new sedan, the Ghibli, were leaked, Maserati decided to come out and officially announce it.
In their own words “the Ghibli will have a sportier character compared to the larger Quattroporte”, and will be available as soon as the Shanghai Auto Show.

Sales of the Masearti Ghibli are set to start next year, and for the first time in the company’s history, you will have the choice of a 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine.
If you like the traditional, gasoline powered Maserati, you also have two choices of 3.0 liter V6 engines that burn your favorite fuel. The more powerful one of them will be quite close to the Quatroporte, with 404 hp to put to your disposal.

No matter what your choice in engine is, when it comes to the gear box, Maserati will only give you one, an eight speed automatic. This will transfer the power to either the rear wheels or to all wheels courtesy of the Q4 system. With the Ghibli, Maserati hopes to appeal to a growing market of premium executive car buyers and will compete against Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar.
