Starting tomorrow and stretching just over a week, the Italians have the motor industry their own way, at the 2011 Bologna Motor Show.
In preparation for this special event, plus one we’ve been hearing a lot about lately, Maserati has unveiled a limited edition of their GranTurismo S model.
Though safely kept from any earlier unveil, the Bologna Motor Show is half the reason for the new model, the other being the celebration of 150 years of Italy as we know it today.
Therefore, not only will the new model be fully unveiled at an Italian motor show, it will also only be sold in Italy.
Making this version of the Maserati GranTurismo S stand out is a matte Sebring Blue exterior with carbon fiber accents, special 20 inch alloy wheels painted black and polished aluminum brake calipers.
The interior is a little special in itself as it features some sporty seats covered in Alcantara, some sporty carbon fiber inserts and an individually numbered Centocinquantenario badge to remind you what it’s all about.
If only the engine would remind you what it’s all about a little. The limited edition Maserati GranTurismo S runs the same mill as the standard car, a 4.7 liter V8 with an output of 450 horsepower.
Knowing this and how little everything else has changed it’s no surprise to see performance levels stay the same as 0 to 62 takes 4.9 seconds and the top speed doesn’t go any further than 183 mph.
The real party piece of the special edition Maserati GT S will be the rarity as only 12 are going to be made.
