Fuel economy is a major problem to for cars nowadays and Mercedes is a company that’s well at the forefront of coming up with solutions.
The latest idea they’ve decided to go with is aerodynamics. Not exactly the biggest discovery of our century but the three pointed star is properly taking it to a different market.

Mercedes-Benz just unveiled a new and very aerodynamic truck model. Interestingly enough it’s not the truck itself that gets the aerodynamic makeover.
Sure, the cab gets a few tweaks here and there but what makes this Mercedes-Benz truck even more aerodynamic than usual is the trailer.
The very cleverly named Mercedes-Benz Aero Trailer can make quite the difference as the wind resistance can be reduced by as much as 18%.

It translates into a fuel economy improvement of 5%. Doesn’t sound like much but let’s not forget that your average truck will cover around 93.000 miles per year and they will rarely get to manage more than 12 mpg.
Doing the math in these conditions, when pulled by a typical Mercedes Actros truck, an aero trailer can save up to 528 gallons of fuel every year.
On top of the great costs savings it could manage, the Mercedes-Benz Aero Trailer can do the environment quite the favor.

A Mercedes-Benz Aero Trailer can reduce a truck’s CO2 emissions by as much as five tons. There’s plenty of other unfriendly particles that are reduced once less fuel is burned.
Perhaps not as appealing to many but the Mercedes-Benz Aero Trailer is also incredibly good looking.
i love you mercedes
