Mercedes unveiled today the Natural Gas Drive version of the new E-Class, a model which is capable to run both on petrol and natural gas.
A four-cylinder unit producing 156 horsepower and 270Nm of torque propels the German model from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,4 seconds with a top speed of 220 km/h.
Fuel economy is rated at 6,3liters/100kmn or 37,3mpg US on petrol and 4,3 kg/100km on natural gas. According to the company, you are able to save up to €1,000 if you use only natural gas as the costs are about half compared to petrol.
“The natural gas mode is also kinder to the environment than petrol or diesel engines thanks to its cleaner exhaust gases,” says the carmaker.
The new Mercedes E 200 Natural Gas Drive will go on sale later this year, namely in December. Pricing will start at €47,808 in Germany, including VAT.
