Mercedes to release the SLA in 2013
There’s a pretty good rumor that’s been going on with the Mercedes sports car lineup lately and it’s about them turning out the brand new SLA.
For those not yet willing to buy their small SLK foldaway hardtop or perhaps not ready to swing the price tag for it, there’s going to be a new alternative available.
Leaving the rumor state, Mercedes announced that we’re going to see the new SLA sometime in 2013 and that it’s bound to take on the Audi TT on much more seriously.
It seems to make sense, the new SLA will be sporting a soft top, a shared front wheel drive platform with the A & B Class and a decently lower price tag.
No specifics are available on just how low this price is about to go but the MFA platform is about as low as you can go once teamed with a Mercedes badge on the front.
Regardless of that, this platform and layout will be coming in with a turbocharged 1.6 liter petrol or a 1.8 liter diesel powerplant.
Another lack of details on the engines is discouraging but the option of a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox should be ready to keep the happiness level up.
All that remains now is for them to make it in the shape of a proper car instead of this totally weird looking concept.
