It came as no surprise that the Tokyo Auto Show came jam packed with all sort of weird concepts, and the BladeGlider presented by Nissan sure is one of the weirdest.

But as crazy as the styling might be, that is not the feature that draws in most attention.

If we are to believe Nissan, the BladeGlider has the potential of becoming the best handling vehicle in the world. I am far from giving advice to the army of engineers employed by the Japanese car maker, but the very design of the car just doesn’t inspire that much handling.

The front end is narrow, almost giving the impression of a 3-wheeler vehicle. This configuration makes for a central driver’s seat, with two more behind it. Most of the weight is concentrated at the rear, with a 30:70 distribution ratio. The drive comes from in-wheel motors, also at the back.

With not many more details to go on, we just have to wait and see if this peculiar concept really does prove to be the best handling vehicle out there.
