General Motors is in a bit of a puddle with their iconic sports car as they are now faced with the situation of recalling quite a big number of them.
The Chevrolet Corvette is great but it can’t really hide from some of the small problems that seem to trouble everything from the cheap hatchback market to the more expensive sports cars.
In this case, the real problem that caused GM to push for this recall is a “situation” with the rear hatch that may not meet some of the legislator’s requirements.
Apparently, there’s a bit of an issue with the hinges on the rear hatch of the Chevrolet Corvette Coupes (naturally, only this model is affected since it’s the only one with a hatch) that may have failed the Federal requirements.
I have no idea what the Federal requirements are with hatchbacks, particularly when the car is involved in crash but I fail to see how things are the way GM is saying.
They either pass or fail the test and after that, certain quality concerns on the Chevrolet Corvette may lead to wear and tear that causes them to no longer be legal.
Anyway, there’s “only” 6.006 units that are subjected to this recall and owners are to be notified by October the 14th.
