The Seat owners community managed to get a hold of some very interesting pictures. They’re allegedly the first ever official photos of the 2012 Toledo.

The Toledo is a compact sedan with quite a bit of tradition for the Spanish car maker but this time round it’s becoming more and more of a VW.

That can be both a good and a bad thing but in this case I reckon it’s mostly looking at the second part of the deal.

I’m a firm believer in the fact that as long as a corporation owns a large number of cars the least they should be able to do is style cars their own way.

With this newest of generation, possibly the sharing of these last platforms being related, most Volkswagen products seem to look alike, particularly the low cost options like the Seat and Skoda badged cars.

2012 Seat Toledo, sounds brilliantly exciting. A car with the trepidation of a Spanish design that rides on the stable platform of a Volkswagen Jetta.

When you actually get to see these pictures and find out that the new Toledo will look quite a lot like the Skoda MissionL concept the excitement kind of wears off.

That’s a shame since underneath Volkswagen will almost certainly provide a very good set of underpinnings making for a reliable and practical car.

As we await for some confirmation from Seat themselves let’s hope there’s still a chance of a more elaborate design in the future of the Toledo.
