The Germans at Porsche officially announced that the 500,000th Cayenne has been built at the Leipzig plant in Germany.
Even there are carmakers which announce when they build their first or second millionth model, Porsche’s milestone is nevertheless impressive as we talk about a premium model carrying a quite steep price tag.
The vehicle in question is a 2013 Porsche Cayenne S Diesel powered by a 4.2-liter V8 producing 382 horsepower and 850Nm of torque. The white vehicle manages to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,7 seconds with a top speed limited at 261 km/h.
“We started with around 70 units a day. Today we produce five times as much owing to the high market demand. In the past year alone, over 83,000 Cayenne vehicles have rolled off the assembly line,” says the company.
Porsche also builds other models such as the Panamera sedan at the Leipzig plant in Germany.
