Volkswagen Group is hard-testing its latest products at the Ring and following the Tiguan R`s hardcore test mule on the famous track a couple of days ago, the carmaker has sent today the Golf R Wagon for new tests at the Ring as well, the prototype also being spied on a video.
As we can depict from the spy video, the new model is wearing slight camouflage around the body which is a clear indication that it is getting closer to the finished phase.
Once it will emerge on the market, the Volkswagen Golf R will sit below the new GTI Clubsport, the latter becoming the lineup`s top version. Even so, the new Gorlf R Wagon will feature improved mechanics like updated suspension and brakes.
In terms of visuals, the Volkswagen Golf R Wagon will come fresh with a lot of styling bits, including new LED headlights and taillights, updated front and rear bumpers, new wheels, as well as some slight changes inside the cabin, with the main highlight on the new 9.2-inch touchscreen interface and digital display.
As for the engine under the hood, the all-new Volkswagen Golf R Wagon will be coming with a fresh new 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four engine, with 230 kW, hooked to a fresh seven-speed gearbox which would replace the present six-speed dual-clutch automatic. The seven-speed gearbox will also come with an updated 4MOTION all-wheel- drive system which would increase the car`s performance and handling.
The all-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf R Wagon is reported to become a real success around the world, especially since the present model was an instant hit in Australia and other worldwide markets. Until full details emerge, please take a closer look at the spy video with the test mule while performing hard tests at the Ring!
