We haven’t heard about the gorgeous Hyundai Ioniq for a while, and that`s because the South Korean carmaker has been busy working on the 2019MY in the United States.
The model was recently announced in the US with new updates, safety features and technology changes, all highlighted as well in the video below.
Speaking of safety systems, the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq has been fitted with a plethora of new features which increase its driving comfort and safety.
We are dealing here with the new Driver Attention Alert and High Beam Assist for the standard variants. The higher trims also received natural-language voice recognition assistant and remote charge management for the Plug-in Hybrid and Electric variants. On the other side, the SEL trim also received Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Smart Cruise Control.
Visually, the 2019MY brings onboard a couple of new updates that separate the models. For instance, the Electric variant is highlighted by a new front fascia and new LED headlights. Inside, the cabin of the Ioniq now comes with recycled materials, along with an updated and more efficient air-conditioning system which minimizes waste. Standard in all versions is the top of the line infotainment system with plenty of new connectivity features.
As for the powertrains under the hood, all variants go separate ways. There are three versions, the hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric. The Hybrid Blue develops 139 horsepower and comes with a 58 mpg, while the plug-in hybrid comes with a 29 mile range and 160 horsepower. In the EV mode, the plug-in hybrid comes with a 119 MPGe, while the hybrid mode is set at 52 MPG. Finally, the Ioniq Electric has a range of 124 miles. The power stops at 118 horsepower, being sent to the wheels via a single-speed reduction-gear transmission. On the other hand, the hybrid variants are equipped with a six-speed EcoShift dual-clutch transmission. You can find more details in the video presentation below!
