It seems that the Germans at Mercedes won’t bring any diesel powerplants for the new CLA sedan in the United States.
The US market is known for the fact that the petrol units are the customer’s first choice but in the last couple of years, diesel units started to become more and more attractive.

Mercedes itself started offering diesel engines for the M-Class, GL-Class and the flagship S-Class models.

Together with the CLA, the new Mercedes GLA could also be offered only with petrol units in the United States. According to Mercedes, the main problem with offering a diesel CLA in the States is the additional costs.

However, if there will be a strong demand for a diesel-powered CLA, we could see the German carmaker introduce one, despite the initial decision. We will keep you up to date on this subject in case Mercedes will change its mind.
