Volkswagen finally pulled the wraps off the plug-in hybrid version of the seventh-generation Golf. The new Golf GTE is going to be revealed at Geneva and comes with a 1.4-liter TSI engine and an electric motor for a total output of 201 horsepower and 349 Nm of torque.
The German model offers an average fuel economy of 157 mpg UK or 1,8 liters / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 35 g/km.
Of course, you can use the model in the all-electric mode buy only for 50 kilometers and at a speed of maximum 130 km/h.
When used in hybrid mode, the new Golf GTE promises quite impressive 0-100 km/h sprint figures of 7,6 seconds with a top speed of 217 km/h.
While the exterior is very similar to the standard model, inside, buyers will get few new systems such as driving range monitor which will let you see various stats. Pricing and availability details will be released most likely at Geneva.
