There’s a market for high-performance wagons and Volkswagen wants a piece of it. The VW Golf R Variant is the company’s rival for other German rivals, a fresh batch of spy photos being available today.
At the exterior, the model comes with sporty bumpers, side skirts, large alloy wheels, a dual-pipe exhaust system and a revised suspension system. Power comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder producing 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque.
Thanks to a manual six-speed or an automatic DSG transmission but also the 4MOTION system, the German wagon should sprint from 0 to 100 km/h quite fast.
The new Volkswagen Golf R Variant is still in the early stages of development and is very likely to hit the dealerships starting next year.
There is a rumored starting price of 40,000 but we are still quite far from debut so these are just estimative figures.
