Volkswagen unveiled the high-performance wagon version of the Golf at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The Volkswagen Golf R Variant packs a potent 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 300 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque.
It is linked to a six-speed DSG transmission and is capable to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 5,1 seconds with a top speed limited at 250 km/h. Fuel economy figures are rated at 7 liters/100 km or 33,6 mpg US with CO2 emissions of 163 g/km.

As the German carmaker says, these numbers are decent for a high-performance wagon model.

Even though the VW Golf R Variant was brought to Los Angeles, there are little to no chances to see it in the States.

However, buyers will be able to order the standard wagon version as well as the Alltrack version. The aforementioned models should make their U.S. debut somewhere in 2016.
