The Festival of Speed taking place at Goodwood is certainly a place of gathering for the most exuberant projects out there.
For this special event, the German car maker Volkswagen decided to present the XL1 model, with hopes it will be good enough to best other similar vehicles.
The move comes as a response to celebrating 60 years of presence on the UK market. This particular vehicles will mostly be made from carbon fiber, thus portraying both an increased attention that carbon fiber is seeing, and the the importance of weight in any premium vehicle.
Under the hood, this XL1 model will be using a hybrid power delivering system made out of an 800 cc diesel engine running in tandem with an electric motor. So far, we are not sure of Volkswagen intentions concerning the XL1 model, but we think that, just like so many other projects presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, it will be a pure exercise in engineering prowess.
