In the automotive industry, whenever you think of safety, generally the name Volvo springs to mind, and for good reasons too.
The car maker has always been a keen adept of safety features, and the new XC90 SUV will be no different.
One of the newer features to be installed is Volvo’s Pedestrian Detection in Darkness, a system with a self explanatory name. When a pedestrian is detected in low light situations, a signal will be displayed to the driver, and if he doesn’t react in time, the car will even brake before hitting said pedestrian.
The XC90 model will also be fitted with a Road Edge and Barrier Detection with Steer Assist. Again, the name says it all. The system will not only detect the edge of any road, marked or otherwise, it will also apply corrections to the steering to keep you from going off it.
There are a few more safety feature present onboard the Volvo XC90 SUV like an adaptive cruise control and the car maker has plans to install even more after the model has launched. In the future, even the autonomous parking solution is expected to arrive on Volvo’s vehicles.
