Everybody is expected to grab a piece of the Mercedes-AMG GT R, also known as the ”Beast of the Green Hell”, the German sports car that comes with advanced aerodynamics and sheer performance under the hood.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R has recently managed to set a new production lap record, with AMG factory driver Bernd Schneider behind the wheel.

This happened at the 2017 LiquiMoly Bathurst 12 Hour Race at Mount Panorama, the AMG GT R managing to run the lap in just 2:16.5. The previous lap record was held by another monster on wheels, the AMG GT S back in 2015, with the same Schneider managing 2:24.03.

After the new personal lap record, Schneider also declared that: ”I love the GT R. I knew it would be a fast car, but i really feels at home here at Mount Panorama.”

As a reminder, the Mercedes-AMG GT R packs lots of advanced mechanics, like new suspension system and lowering springs, while adding an active aero kit which increases the car`s driving capabilities and keeps it closer to the track.

In the engine department, the AMG GT R comes with an upgraded 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine, developig 550 horsepower, allowing thus a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. The top speed is also set at 318 km/h.

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R sits the GT S, becoming thus the top of the line version from the entire GT lineup. But The GT R will not be the crowned king forever, as the German based carmaker is also planning a high-performance Black Series version, which might see the daylight somewhere in 2018.
