A few years ago, if a car maker would have announced a new electric car, it would have attracted a lot of attention from the industry.

Now that the technology has reached the point where it’s starting to make sense financially, it seems that every other day a new EV is born.

And in a world of BMW i3s and Toyota Prii, making a name for yourself as a newcomer is going to be quite tough. Carice is that newcomer, and considering what the Mk1 has to offer, I’m not sure it will go too far. The car comes in three engine choices, with the biggest delivering 54 Hp, the middle offering 19 Hp and the smaller one (aimed at 16 years old drivers) only managing 5 Hp.

That doesn’t really come close to other EVs on the market, and considering the asking price is in the €26.000 ballpark, I’m not sure if anyone will be attracted to it. In fact, there is only one thing I see that actually works in its favor. From the right angle, the Carice Mk1 looks remarkably similar to the classic Porsche 356.
