It also has a behemoth towing capacity of 17,980 lbs, which means that it can make quick work of even the heaviest loads. The Ram also features an improved exterior design, chrome-accented grilles, LED headlights, and a spacious interior.

But with so many different trucks available on the market, it can be hard to choose the perfect vehicle for your next new ride.

Whether you’re looking for a powerful pickup truck for towing or a family-friendly SUV for camping trips, Canada’s top-selling trucks have something for everyone.

The GM carmaker has been filling the first page of every auto magazine out there, with the recent debacle over the defective ignition switch recall and other public scandals.

Thus, the GM is trying to catch up the lost time and give its customers what they deserve, by promising some huge investments in Brazil, in order also to deal with all the problems its models are having.

GM Company Plans Huge Investment in Brazil

Thus, the GM automaker is planning to invest 2.8 million dollars in Brazil, an investment plan to be carried out within the next five years.

The chief executive officer at GM, Mary Barra, stated that the company is facing new challenges, for which massive efforts must be done to see the prospected plan in Brazil.

The GM is thinking bold these days, even if the Brazil auto market is in decline, with output production of just 15% since the beginning of the year.

But the same Barra announced in Brazil during a visit there, also seeing president Dilma Rousseff, that the carmaker is planning to use the country at its full, in order to develop new technologies and performance products.

The Chevrolet and the GMC have just announced the prices for their trucks, namely the 2015 Colorado and Canyon, which is a true hint that both automakers are trying to gain supremacy against the Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma.

We are talking about a “play ball” strategy that the GM is trying to pull, renouncing thus the old trick of keeping truck discounts low, in order to gain profitability.

2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Mary Barra, the GM Chief Executive Officer, said in an interview that Chevrolet and GM must stick together in order to play the ball against Toyota and Nissan.

2015 GMC Canyon

On the other hand, Kenn Bakowski, the Canyon Marketing Manager said that the Canyon models are those vehicles that provide a lot premium features and technology, maneuverability and “inherent capabilities.”

More than that, Tony Johnson, the Colorado marketing manager, also stated that the Colorado model is that mid-size truck capable of offering value and versatility to its customers.

“It will also have strong appeal for people who know they want a truck, but want one that is easier to maneuver in traffic and easier to park at work or at home,” Johnson also stated.

GM seems to be on a slippery slope right now, as they have just issued yet another recall, this time involving the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse models.

Earlier this year, GM took quite a hit, with a massive recall to repair a discovered ignition switch fault.

2014 Chevrolet Malibu

And if that wasn’t bad enough, the recalls just kept pouring in, with this one being the fifth one in the past two weeks. As recalls go, this one isn’t all that big for the manufacturer, with only 8.208 units being affected, but little by little, GM is gathering expenses and losing customer faith.

2014 Buick LaCrosse

As for the recall itself, the issue seems to be located at the front brakes, which received rear brake rotors by mistake. In these vehicles, the front brakes have to handle more load as the rear ones, and as result of this issue, owners might experience reduced braking performance. Luckily, no incidents or victims were recorded so far, and Gm is hard at work making sure there will be none.

It is never a good thing when a vehicle rolls out the assembly line with various faults, as this puts both the car maker and customer at risk.

That is why, most issues, once discovered, are quickly resolved by recalling the affected models.

Chevrolet Cobalt

The worst outcome of failing to find and remedy various problems is the death of the vehicle occupants. Not so long ago, GM issued a recall for two of its models, namely the 2005 – 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt and 2003 – 2007 Saturn Ion. The problem was related to the ignition switch.

At that time, things didn’t look so grim, but recent news seem to indicate that as many as 303 people might have lost their lives due to this shortcoming. Usually, the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) handles these situations, but a third party company discovered that the problem was deeper than originally thought.

The ignition switch issue was discovered to be related to the fact that in certain accidents, the airbags failed to deploy, a fact only Fredman Research Corporation managed to discover. 303 death is not a small number, even considering the impressive number of vehicles affected by the malfunction, so the NHTSA got an earful for failing to discover this when investigating the ignition switch.

Are you a fan of big, heavy machinery? If so, then GMC might be just the choice for you, as their trucks are know around the world.

And not just for the utilitarian side of the deal, but also for their acceptable and even eye catching design (maybe that’s pushing it a bit).

GMC Canyon teaser

If so, then you will be glad to know that the American car maker will be presenting the brand new 2015 GMC Canyon at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show, which is set to start on January the 13th. But what do we know about the vehicle so far? In truth, we know almost nothing except that it will be unveiled next week.

With the recent teaser released by the manufacturer, one might think that at least a hint could be gleaned from it, but I doubt it. For a pick-up truck, they are certainly quite secretive, overly so, even. The 2015 GMC Canyon is said to draw heavily from the Colorado model, and the manufacturer describes it as a “semi-serious duty cycle truck.” We’ll just make our own minds about it at the Detroit Motor Show.

Recently a company struggling to survive on the auto market, Tesla is nowadays seen as a threat by Dan Akerson, CEO of General Motors.

One of the latest interviews with Steve Girsky, vice-president of General Motors, confirmed that GM is now having a dedicated team in charge with analyzing Tesla’s evolution. The orders for starting the team came directly from Akerson, who considers that Tesla may be “a big disrupter if we’re not careful”.

If we think of it, General Motors may have all the reasons to fear from Tesla, a company that does everything it takes for thriving and that managed to pull further projects that GM itself gave up to.

One example would be the hydrogen skateboard chassis concept that General Motors came with back in 2002. While GM did not take the project further, Tesla had no problems to inspire from it and came up with Tesla Model S chassis who underpinned a whole generation of vehicles after that!

Tesla Model S

If you want a more recent example, what say you of Chevrolet Volt, from General Motor’s portfolio, which lost the title of the best sold EV in 2012 because of Tesla Model S? Now do you still believe that Tesla is no threat to GM?

To show its support, the US car maker promised that by 2017 they will have twice as many vehicles that are capable of doing 40 mpg or 5.9 liter/100 km.

GM

This announcement is the latest step in a series of improvements that GM implemented in order to be more eco-friendly. Since 2010, GM has also been fitting solar panels all over their installations, managing to reduce their world wide power usage by 7 percent.

In addition to energy saving, Gm is also recycling up to 90 percent of all waste material produced. If the promise to have more eco-friendly cars turns out to be true, the giant will earn the gratitude of many ecologists. Unlike the CO2 emissions imposed on cars by 2020 in Europe, the US seems to be a bit more flexible, giving car makers more room to juggle.
