The 2019 Peugeot 508 SW wagon looks more premium from a visual perspective, coming with plenty of new highlights that make it more attractive and appealing. Speaking of which, Yann Bonny, director of dynamics at Peugeot, has declared that their aim was to enhance the car`s driving experience.

“So we applied the same technical package – wheelbase, damped engine mount, multi-link rear axle and electronically controlled damping, depending on the model. We then proceeded to make specific adjustments to compensate for the difference in mass breakdown in the SW. The result is the same as for the saloon – a perfect balance between sportiness, comfort and safety,” Yann also said.

Compared with the previous model, the new 508 SW wagon is 6cm lower and looks sleeker with the new low profile theme. The car`s main highlights comprise full LED headlights and vertical LED daytime running lights, frameless doors, flowing lines, all increasing its premium looks.

As for practicality, the new 2019 Peugeot 508 SW wagon comes with a much lowered cargo area load height, making it 2.4cm wider and allowing for a 530L capacity inside. This can be increased to a total of 1,780L with the rear seats folded down.

As for the engine lineup, the model will be equipped with two petrol burners – the PureTech 180 and PureTech 225 – while the diesels will comprise four pots – from the manual BlueHDi 130 to the automatic BlueHDi 160 and 180. All come with Euro 6.d standards.

To make things even more interesting, the carmaker will also be launching a couple of cool trims, including the top of the line GT and GT Line, each one tweaked with more styling tweaks and interior updates.

The feisty city car going against the likes of the new Toyota Aygo or Citroen C1, looks fresh and appealing with the new colour choices such as Green Fizz and Calvi Blue, available on the Allure and Collection trims.

From a visual standpoint, besides the addition of the new colours, the 2018 Peugeot 108 has been enhanced with the Raven Black roof, Green Fizz retractable electric fabric roof and the glossy black side mirror casings. All these features provide a “sporty personality”, like the carmaker stated.

Once you enter inside, you get plenty of new high-tech gizmos like seven-inch display with DAB digital radio, AUX input, Apple CarPlay, Mirror Screen or Android Auto, all available in the Active variant.

On the safety systems department, the French carmaker is offering a couple of new features available at extra cost. We are dealing here with the £480 safety system package which includes Active City Brake, Lane Departure Warning System and Traffic Sign Recognition System. These equip the Allure and Collection trims.

As for the engine under the hood, the 2018 Peugeot 108 features a 1.0-liter engine which comes standard on all versions, paired to a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic gearbox. Both develop 72 PS.

As a reminder, the 2018 Peugeot 108 is the direct successor of the 107 officially debuting at the Geneva Motor Show four years ago. Ever since, the model has received minor updates at the interior. However, the 2018MY manages to stand out from the crowd with a couple of new enhancements at the exterior and new technologies inside.

The latest auto manufacturer to join the market on the hot continent is no other than Peugeot, recently announcing the availability of its gorgeous 3008 SUV in the first quarter of 2017.

The all-new SUV is meant to boost the company`s sales and to compensate the loses it had this year until July, with just 1989 units sold countrywide, as opposed to the last year`s same period, with 2426 vehicles.

According to Kai Bruesewitz, Peugeot Australia general manager, the 2017 Peugeot 3008 is meant to revive the local market thanks to its “French design and engineering”, this SUV being exactly what “Australians have been waiting for”.

Coming with an extremely appealing and sleek design, the all-new 3008 stands on the carmaker`s new EMP2 platform, the same one found on the much hooter and more popular 308 hatch, meaning less weight and increase performance.

The cabin has received some slight improvements as well, the company fitting it with its latest high-tech gizmos, including the new i-Cockpit configuration, digital instrument cluster, massive multimedia LCD in the center stack and so forth.

In the engine department, the 2017 Peugeot 3008 SUV seems to be extremely fuel-efficient, the model being equipped with a 1.6-liter turbo flat-four petrol burner, followed by a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine. The power ranges between 121 kW and 132 kW. Both versions are hooked to a six-speed automatic transmission. The full specs and pricing tags will be announced at the beginning of next year.

The results were very close to those reported by customers, therefore proving to be a good way to measure the real quantity of CO2 emissions in the near future. But how did they do it? They asked the help of two independent organizations: Force Nature Environment and Transport & Environment. Together, they tried to simulate the real-life routes, in real-life conditions: with passenger, luggage loads and the use of air conditioning system. They took three cars and headed to a specific combination of public roads, in and around cities, near Paris. The route was carefully chosen to contain 25.5 km in the city, 39.7 km of country-roads and 31.1 km of highway, with specific road-gradients. They fitted a portable emissions measurement system at the exhaust, which is the solution based on the Real Driving Emission project. All the process has been supervised by Bureau Veritas, which guarantees the results’ accuracy.

But what are the results? According to this test, the average consumption of the Peugeot 308 1.6l BlueHDi 120 S&S BVM6 Allure is 5.0 l/100km. The customers’ independent surveys report 5.0/5.1 l/100km, which is almost identical. However, the fuel consumption is way bigger than the one measured by ECE, of under 3.5 l/100km! The second car tested is the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso, with the same engine. It consumed an average 5.6 l/100km, while the costumers measures 5.5/5.7 l/100km. The official NEDC average fuel consumption is about 4 l/100km. Finally, the same engine equipping the DS3 needed 4.9 l/100km, a little less than 5.1 / 5.3 figures obtained by the owners, but much more than the 3.6 l/100 km declared.

What are the conclusions? First – congratulation to PSA, which made the first official attempt to show real measured values of their cars’ fuel consumption. Second – it’s not that difficult to adopt a correct system, to show more exactly what should be the buyers’ expectations.

Peugeot is probably the most confident French carmaker of the moment: last year, they raised the sells by 4.6% and in 2016 they returned in the world of racing cars with a sensational victory: they have won the Rally Dakar trophy. The increased sales were the most impressive in Europe, with 9.7% grow, followed by China, up with 5.6%. The french carmaker’s best sold car in Europe, 308, occupied the third position on the best-sellers C-segment podium, while the 208 had raised its selling number by 10%. It grabbed the “Engine of the year” title, thanks to the PureTech engine technology. So, this year they’re ready to prove that 2015 wasn’t just a happy chance.

After winning 9 stages and the overall classification at Dakar, with 2008 DKR (which will also be shown at Geneva), the Lion Brand launches the new Peugeot 2008, the smallest SUV in their portfolio. Entered the ring back in 2013, the first 2008 generation had been sold in 515.000 units worldwide, becoming the most successful Peugeot car currently in production. In Europe, it never left the top three in segment selling. The new generation comes with new exterior design elements, like wheel arch extensions, plastic protections for the lower body-parts and a new vertical front grille, which makes it look bold and sturdy. Onboard, the Mirror Screen lets the passengers connect their apple phones via Apple Carplay, while under the bonnet there’s the awarded PureTech 1.2L engine, developing an impressive 130 hp.

Another world premiere is Traveller, which will be presented also in i-Lab version. This business customer travel version of the MPV stands out thanks to its four individual seats placed around a 32 inch tablet, the Wi-Fi hotspot and induction charging docks. The Traveller is equipped with a range of engines averaging only 140 g/km CO2, which is a record in its segment.
There will also be presented two Peugeot Sport creations, besides the Rally Dakar winner, 2008 DKR: 308 GTI, animated by the sensational 270 hp, 1.6 l THP engine and the magnificent 308 R Hybrid, a concept developing 500 hp!

When we say Peugeot Traveller, we equally say Citroen Spacetourer and Toyota Proace. Especially when talking about safety, because all three of them share the most important features: the same platform and the same active safety systems. It’s not the first time when PSA group and Toyota cooperated: as you know, they share the C1, 108 and Aygo models. It’s not only a matter of personal preference, because the engine range is different from one car maker to another.

Regarding the safety, however, all three managed the same, excellent result in the Euro NCAP tests: they scored a maximum five stars. Thanks to this result, they lead the “Business and Family Van” segment, being much safer than the upcoming duo Opel/Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic. The German/French model disappointed with its only three stars overall result. Getting back to the winners, they reached 87% protection for adult occupants, 91% for children occupants, 64% for the pedestrians and 78% at the safety assist. Could it be any better? Probably so, if safety systems like knee airbag, side pelvis airbag or integrated child seat would be available. Anyway, the new van is equaled by Vivaro and Trafic only at the children’s safety score. If you’re an adult, then being in or around the Traveller is safer!

Peugeot 2008 had always been an important car for the French, because it plays in a continuously developing game: the compact SUV’s segment. Practically, there is no big car manufacturer to miss this class, as basically there’s a simple recipe: take the standard compact model, increase its ground clearance, add some SUV-like plastic panels to the body and you’re in the game! There’s not even need to fit an AWD system to it.

Well, that’s not exactly what Peugeot did, however. It has a completely new design, unlike the Peugeot 207 Touring Outdoor concept, which announced it. Though there’s no AWD system on the 2008, the French offers an optional pack called “Grip Control”, which includes an electronically-controlled limited-slip differential, for the off road enthusiasts. It is offered in combination with mud and snow tires.

The French crossover is on the market for about three years and it’s been sold all over the world in 515.000 units. More, in Europe it never left the top-three best sold cars in its class. In 2016 the crossover-SUV combination became more off-road pointed, thanks to the new GT Line trim: there are new wider wheel arches, redesigned front grille and new aluminum wheels. Some new, discrete red elements bring a powerful image to the model. It is the top of the range, over Access and Active equipment lines. It offers a great level of equipment, standard or optional: Mirror Screen, based on MirrorLink and Apple Carplay, together with rearview camera, Active City Brake and Park Assist. The engine line includes gasoline PureTech and BlueTech diesel engines. Amongst them, there are four best in class CO2 emission engines, including the Euro 6, 1.2l PureTech 130 hp, matted with a 6 speed manual transmission.

And it does: the Euro6, 2 liter BlueHDI engine develops 180 hp and 400 Nm of torque, while emitting a best-in-class 140 g /km CO2. It is compact, but roomy: while all the 9 seats are on position, there is still an available luggage space of 1.500 l. Its height, of only 1.90m is hard to find in its segment, allowing it to fit into covered car parks. It offers a unique XS version, which is perfect for the city, while still accommodates 9 people.

However, the Peugeot Traveller Business Plus has only 4 rear seats positioned face to face. The roof includes a unique-in-the-segment 3 zone climate control with soft diffusion, and mood lighting. The most efficient engine manages an excellent average fuel consumption of 5.1 l/100km, while the average fuel consumption of all the engine range is 5.4 l/100 km, a reference in the MPV segment. It is partly because of the new platform, which makes the car lighter with 100-400 kg than other MPVs.

And because it isn’t all about engines, the Traveller brings some interesting features in the class: automatic sliding side doors, head-up display, road sign reading and speed limiter recommendation are unique in segment. It also offers opening tailgate window, glass roof, Active SafetyBrake and automatic main beam switcher. Unprecedentedly in Peugeot history, a car is equipped with voice-control navigation system, 180° reverse camera and Driver Attention Alert.

Peugeot started 2016 with great home success: some of their models reached the top sells in January. Overall, Peugeot managed to be the number one car manufacturer in personal car segment. Bestseller was 208, with 5.5% of total car sales in France. In the compact car segment, Peugeot 308 also stays on top, reaching 4.1% of total PC sales. It is also the second best sold car in France.

Peugeot 3008 and 508 are bestsellers in SUV, respectively sedan segments, with 1.6% and 1.2% of the market sales. In January 2016, the PC-LCV French market rose by 4.7%. Peugeot increased the sales by 5.2% compared to the same period of 2015, now having a total 18.2% of total PC-LCV sales.

Beyond this Peugeot supremacy in France, it’s good to see that European market moves to the right direction. In 2015, there were 9.3% more registrations than in 2014. However, last year the sales were still under the period before 2008 crisis. Spain managed to rise it’s new car registrations by 21%, while Italy registered 16% more cars than in precedent year. Still, predictions for 2016 aren’t quite as optimistic: according to Daimler’s CEO and ACEA President Dieter Zetsche, the expected increase is only by 2%, up to a total of 14 million units. Part of this weakening is caused by the VW pollution scandal. An ACEA study foresees that northern Europe will maintain the same number of sales, whilst French, Germany and Italy will continue to increase the registrations.
