Once it will arrive in European dealerships starting this summer, the all-new 2018 Seat Ibiza will come with a wider body, measuring 87 mm wide and gaining as well 60 mm in wheelbase. This would also make it bigger inside with 63 liters, with a total of bot space of 355 liters.

Once arriving first in the United Kingdom, the 2018 Ibiza will be available in four trim levels, such as the S, SE, FR as well as the top of the line XCELLENCE trim, the latter one adding plenty of high-end features.

All versions will come with standard equipment like Front Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Keyless Entry System with engine start button, front and rear parking sensors, rear-view camera, as well as the carmaker`s new eight-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system.

In the engine department, the regular Ateca comes fitted with a wide range of engines, like the 1.6 TDI with 115 HP, the 2.0 TDI with 150 HP and 190 HP, as well as the 1.0 TSI with 115 HP and the 141 TSI with 150 HP, all hooked to a manual or a dual-clutch DSG transmission.

Going back twenty years ago, we find the first Ibiza Kit Car, which started its glorious life by winning the 2-litre category of WRC. Samsung plays the role of closing the gap between the cutting-edge mobile technology and the driving experience. One of the first tasks is to deliver a solution to the urban parking challenge, so the SAP will provide the global parking list, while the payments will be secured by Samsung Pay. There’s already known the Samsung Pay platform’s success in USA and Asia. Therefore, in the next few months it’s expected to be launched also in Europe. The Seat owners will be able to benefit over this platform for paying the parking place and the fueling, via the Seat Connect App. The parking place could be reserved from anywhere only using the fingerprint. Then, the navigation system will automatically lead the driver to the parking, while the system will raise the access gate when the car is near it. At the carpark’s exit, the payment will be made via ConnectApp, so it won’t be necessary to step out of the car.

A second application of this collaboration is the Digital Key Sharing. Last year, Seat and Samsung revealed a digital key concept, which allows to unlock and lock the doors, open and close the windows and turn on and off the air conditioning system using a smartphone. This year’s news is that the key can be sent digitally to other person, allowing him to use your car without having a physical key. It’s pretty similar to the Volvo keyless system. It can be set a time limit of availability for the copy, and when the time ends, the copy expires. In the future, the copy could contain a set of parameters which limit the maximum speed or restricts other car functions.

What is wrong with 280 hp? Seat said is nothing wrong, only the newly tuned engine can do better in every aspect. Some of the new top-of-the-range qualities are the front differential lock, the dynamic chassis control and progressive steering. It’s been fitted a new, lighter exhaust, which helps the engine’s efficiency by being less restrictive. It produces a smaller back pressure, delivering in the same time a more thrilling sound: “a completely new sound”, as they say!

Yes, you’ll know it when you’ll see it (if you won’t hear it before): 19 inch titanium – painted wheels, red Cupra calipers, rear spoiler and black mirrors housings. All these wouldn’t be much without a capable powertrain: the 4 cylinders turbo engine sends its 350 Nm of torque through a manual or DSG gearbox to the front wheels. It’s available from 1700 rpm and stays at its peak until 5800 rpm, offering an exceptional drivability. It stops pulling at 250 km/h, but in the meantime is very economical, averaging an impressive 6.5 l/100 km (6.7l/100 km with manual gearbox). This mean 149 g/100km CO2. The most interesting feature of this direct-injection engine is the presence of an indirect injection system to complement the main one at partial load, reducing the fuel consumption. However, the direct injection works alone at startup and at high loads.

If you want to be over the top, there’s a Performance pack available, including a special wheels design, more grippy tires and Brembo brakes. However, this car is not a beast without comfort. Au contraire: it’s bundled with equipment like full LED headlamps, a last generation infotainment system, with Andriod and Apple smartphone connection and voice activation/reply. So what we have here is a real hot car, which combines pure dynamics with some of the latest comfort features available on the market. Olé!

Seat is aware that the SUV sales will grow by 25 percent in the Western Europe, so this spring they ‘ll throw on the battlefield a new model, intended to improve the brand’s image. There’s a wide enough engines range to choose from: there are TSI and TDI engines, from 115 hp to 190 hp, with FWD and AWD and manual or DSG transmission. So, no one’s left outside. All the engines are supercharged, offering great torque values across the board. The entry-level is a 1.0 l TSI capable of 115 hp and an averaging 5.3 l/100km (123 g/km CO2). The smallest TDI has a 1.6 l displacement, also develops 115 hp and averages 4.3 l/100km, emitting 112g/km CO2.There are also available a 1.4 TSI, 150 hp and a 2.0 TDI, producing 150 hp or 190 hp.

Ateca benefits over the presence of various technologies, like full-LED headlamps and 8 inch display for the infotainment system. The top-model which will include all these options will be called Ateca Xcellence. The design is typical for Seat: practically looking at it from any angle you can see it’s a Seat-made SUV. It looks essentially like a Leon-SUV, as the most exterior elements are interpretations of those from the compact model. As soon as the doors are unlocked, the SUV’s name and silhouette are projected from the mirrors to the ground. Another unusual latin feature: the ring around the Start button blinks like a heartbeat.

Opening the front door, we find the same story as outside: the Leon dashboard with slight modifications. I can’t accuse the Spanish of lack of inspiration. Instead, I can say it’s a brand image that had to be kept. The 4.36 m in length is in VW Tiguan‘s vicinity, but the luggage space is quite impressive: 510 l (or 475, when equipped with 4WD system). They say it’s one of the lightest and stiffest vehicle in its class, being therefore one of the best to drive. We can’t verify it yet, but we can admire it at Geneva, next month.

And so it happened, as the Seat Leon ST Cupra has received a good round of applause, both from the media and the public present at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

The first think one might depict from the model, would be the body paintjob, as the model will be seen for now on with the White Line, the Black Line as well as the Orange Line finishes, complemented by the Performance Pack, consisting of the Brembo braking system, the 18-inch alloy wheels with black or orange finish and much more.

Apart from the gorgeous look, the Seat Leon ST Cupra is also coming with powerful engines being fitted on different models, and the ST Cupra is no exception, the model coming with the 2.0-liter turborcharged four-cylinder unit, now sporting between 265 horsepower and 280 horsepower, as well as 350 Nm of torque for both power outputs.

The Cupra TSI 260 will need 6.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, while the 2.0-liter TSI 265 with DSG, will need 6.1 seconds. On the other hand, the 2.0-liter TSI 280 PS will go 6.1 seconds and the same TSI 280 DSG goes 6 seconds, at a top speed of 250 km/h.

The upcoming Seat Leone ST Cupra will have a special launch since the Spanish based carmaker is soon celebrating 30 years of presence on the market, after selling an overall 5 million Ibiza models.

With the 204 Paris Motor Show starting tomorrow, the Leo ST Cupra will have its chance of joining the company`s other models.

Sadly for Seat lovers, this particular model will not represent the lineup`s top-ranging, as the crown will go to the much more powerful Seat Cupra R version, the first coming as well in the Cupra hatch and the ST.

Apart from that, the Seat Leon ST Cupra will compete against the Golf R, the S3 and the A45 AMG models, as it is believed to be equipped with a 300-horsepower unit under the hood.

We are talking about a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine and an all-wheel drive layout, ready to make its final debut in a couple of months.

The Caravan Club`s 2015 Tow Car of the Year award was won by the Seat Leone Estate this week, as the model managed to defeat 39 models from different classes, like the Dacia Logan MCV Laureate, coming from 12,000 GBP, or the Land Rover Discovery SDV6, priced from impressive 60,000 GBP.

The Seat is a subsidiary brand of the Volkswagen Group and that would be the seventh consecutive year that a vehicle manufactured by the German based automaker is literally stealing the award from other tough competitors.

There were several rules that the 40 competitors have to comply with, meaning that all had to carry out certain trials, with the judges to rule out, taking into account different sets of criteria.

We are talking about trials concerning towing performance, how easy the hook-up process can take, or how much gear they can carry on a typical holiday.

The last consideration that judges had to take into account, was also the value for money of which of the cars involved in the competition.
