The Italians from Fiat have big electrification plans. Although it looks almost the same as the heat engine version, the 500e is the brand’s first model built on a dedicated electric platform. In addition, the head of the manufacturer in Turin claims that other zero-emission vehicles will follow.

Moreover, by 2030, Fiat intends to include only electric cars in its model portfolio. The announcement was made recently by Olivier Francois, CEO of Fiat.

“It is our duty to launch on the market electric cars that do not cost more than those with heat engine, as soon as possible […] We explore the territory of sustainable mobility for all: this is our biggest project. Between 2025 and by 2030, our model range will gradually become electric. This will be a radical change for Fiat.” said Francois Oliver (CEO of Fiat).

After a meeting with the famous architect Stefano Boeri (best known for the Bosco Verticale residential towers in Milan), the head of the Italian manufacturer also announced that the legendary circuit on the roof of the former Fiat factory will be transformed into the largest hanging garden in Europe.

Over 28,000 plants will be planted in the garden in the coming months.

The model was recently caught on spied for the first time, with photos to pop-up online courtesy of Autos Segredoes reader Wesley Valadares.

Reportedly to hit Brazilian dealerships next May, the all-new Fiat X6H is the sort of ”Brazilianised” variant of the Tipo hatchback in Europe, coming with a different style than its European sibling.

We are looking here at a new front-end with swept-back headlamps which flank the mesh grille, adding standard grille with fog lamps, horizontal C-shaped taillamps for the rear-end, along with rear windshield wiper, roof spoiler and the registration plate on the bumper.

Other features also include a temporary rear diffuser and chrome-finished angular tailpipe, which announces the upcoming of a sports model.

Performance wise, the all-new Fiat X6H is rumored to come with a top of the line 1.8-liter four-cylinder EtorQ EVO engine, the same one found on the Toro; the performance figures will be announced at a later date.

On the other hand, the new X6H will also come with less expensive engines, meaning a 1.0-liter Firefly three-cylinder engine with 72 horsepower running on gasoline/77 horsepower running on ethanol. The second engine also refers to a 1.3-liter GSE engine, with 101 horsepower. Full details and prices will be known prior to the car`s debut in Brazil, next May.

The Fiat Mobi Drive was just unveiled at the 2016 Sao Paolo Motor Show and proves to be extremely fuel-efficient and the perfect ride for daily commuting.

We are looking here at a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine fitted underneath the skin, developing a good 77 horsepower and 78 lb-ft of torque. The fuel-efficiency is given by the car`s new system which runs on ethanol.

Besides the car`s efficiency in terms of fuel, the model is also extremely quiet and delivering a great torque while being in heavy traffic.

The Italian based carmaker has also added some mechanical improvements, meaning that the Mobi Drive is now coming with an electric steering, which is much lighter and comes with special functions that make the steering more efficient, especially in a parking lot.

Other features also concern the interior, with the main highlights on the cabin`s new LCD screen, digital cluster, electric windows at the front, height adjustable front seat belts, Bluetooth connectivity, USB input, rear parking sensors, magazine rack for the front seat backrests, cup holder, and a few more.

Details with the price tags are scarce at the moment, but we should find out more later on this month when the Fiat Mobi Drive will reach dealerships.

Fiat owns a great heritage in the LCV segment, thanks to its sub-brand, Fiat Professional. The new model is a good example of excellent loading capacity, being therefore perfect for professionals with business in or around the city. Its name – Talento is inspired by its natural abilities, which place this model between Fiat Doblo Cargo and Fiat Ducato. Once this model will hit the showrooms, Fiat will offer models of every possible length and cargo volume, covering their last weak segment.

It shares the same capabilities with his French and German brothers, thanks to a partnership between Fiat, Renault and Opel which helps the car manufacturers build vehicles at low production costs. However, it will probably also share the platform’s safety weakness, as the Trafic only manage to obtain three stars from a total of five, in the Euro NCAP tests.

Looking at its style, the Talento’s inclined windscreen looks dynamic and continues in a happy way with the short bonnet, for a sporty front design. The horizontal-oriented design emphasizes the wide stance, creating an increased stability sensation. The engine line includes turbo and twin-turbo powertrains producing up to 145 hp, being matted to a 6-speed manual transmission. The engines have been carefully developed to minimize the running costs and increase reliability. The vehicle will be assembled in Renault plant, in France, and the orders will start this may. This summer, the new Talento will hit the showroom.

Every model released by Abarth is unique in every way and this model seen here is no exception. It comes with a one-off and exquisite body wrap and interior, joining thus the exclusive league and sitting near the Classica and Lusso models.

The Fiat 124 Spider Elaborazione Abarth is a limited edition model and is tweaked to deliver impressive performance under the hood. The model packs a 1.4-liter flat-four turbocharged MultiAir engine, with 160 horsepower.

The new 124 Spider Abarth also comes with rear-wheel drive configuration, high-tech suspension system and improved driving dynamics.

Since we are dealing here with a revamped model of the famous 124 Spider from the 1970s, the new model can be regarded indeed as a genuine yet sophisticated sports car, being tweaked with a lot of high-performance characteristics, like Bilstein front and rear absorbers, Brembo brakes and limited-slip differential.

Other characteristics refer to automatic transmission, electric power steering, dynamic stability control system and a few more. More details with the model will be released later on.

Let’s start with the Fiat, which is a classy, stylish roadster. I can’t say it’s a purists’ car, simply because it’s too well equipped: leather seats, automatic climate control, highly developed infotainment system, with 7” touchscreen display and premium Bose sound system send it in the luxury side of the segment. But it looks beautiful, no matter the angle you look at it. The 1.4 litre, 140 hp turbo engine is fairly powerful and manages to accelerate the 124 Spider to 100km/h in 7.5 second, reaching a top speed of 215 km/h.

Though it’s luxurious, the lightweight body and sporty layout allowed Abarth to transform it into a very capable sports car. It weighs just over one tonne and thanks to the engine’s position, behind the front axle, the weight distribution is perfect: 50/50. Being equipped with the 170 hp, 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo engine, it reaches a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 6.2 kg/hp! It translates into a 0-100 km/h sprint of 6.8 seconds, thanks to the rear-wheel drive system and the limited-slip differential, and a top speed of 230 km/h. Depending on the costumer’s taste, the gearbox can be either short-throw, direct lever 6-speed manual, or a racey automatic Sequenziale Sportivo. Not only the engine and gearboxes have been replaced, but also the suspension, which has stiffer anti-roll bars and a new set of dampers, called “Abarth by Bilstein”, for best handling without losing the comfort factor. Add the Brembo brake system with aluminum front calipers and the especially-designed Record Monza exhaust, and you have the image of a charismatic roadster. It can be ordered at a starting price of 40.000 euros, and will be available in dealerships from this September.


You think this is it? Abarth doesn’t. At Geneva we admired the racing version of 124 Spider in the form of a prototype. It has been especially tuned by the Abarth Racing Team and it’s equipped with the 1.8 litre direct-injection turbo engine known from Alfa Romeo Giulietta. However, in this case, it develops 300 hp and “an optimum torque curve”. It won’t be a production car, being engineered to meet the FIA R-GT regulations for rally-cars. But it shows that the chassis is perfect for more powerful engines and for tough racing conditions, which makes us dream about a more powerful 124 Spider on the streets the following years.

Its slogan says it all: “You don’t need much to get a lot”. So what exactly means “a lot”? It means solid, powerful engines, especially if we mention the top 1.4 T-Jet petrol engine and the 1.6 MultiJet II diesel engine, each of them developing 120 hp. It also means more economical engines, like the naturally-aspirated gasoline 1.4l 95 hp and 1.3l diesel, developing 95 hp and 200Nm from 1500rpm. The gasoline engines can also be ordered with optional LPG fuelling system. The engines can be coupled to either a manual transmission, or automatic dual-clutch or with torque converter. So, nobody’s left outside.

It also means two brand new bodies, a hatchback and an estate. The hatchback is 437cm long and 150cm high, meaning it’s 10cm longer and 6cm higher than VW Golf. That brings lots of benefits: a roomier cabin, where even the 1.85m people can travel confortable, a class-leading leg-room and fully-sized third seat on the rear row. More, the trunk volume is a class-leading 440 liters! The Estate version shares the same 179cm width and height but adds 20cm in length, to reach 550 liters trunk volume. It also benefits over the stepless boot to make from loading bulky packages an easy task. Inside the cabin, the compartments totalize 12 liters of volume.

Finally, it means excellent connection thanks to the Uconnect 7” live system, with touchscreen and pinch-and-swipe controls, like a tablet. It also includes a Bluetooth connectivity, USB and AUX ports, Tom-Tom 3D navi and voice recognition. It features CarPlay and Android Auto for full smartphone integration.

What’s more important is that, in the the C segment, the estate versions are very popular. There’s still not known whether the estate’s name will be Tipo or not. What’s known for sure is that it will hit the showroom in less than three months. So what’s going to look like? Nobody knows for sure, but thanks to a picture shared by Fiat, now everybody has a clue. It seems that the estate that will be presented tomorrow at Geneva will remain faithful to the powerful lines of the sedan version with the boomerang style on the rear lights.

It’s going to face the competition of the new Renault Megane Estate, which will be unveiled at the same time. It’s also designed to steal the clients of the VW Golf Variant, Skoda Octavia Combi, Seat Leon ST, Ford Focus Touring and Peugeot 308 SW, and it has the price by its side. It probably has a big trunk too, if we think that the sedan version offers an impressive 520 liter. More, the two diesel engines are both powerful and economical. I’m talking about the 1.3 litre 90 hp and the more potent 1.6 litre, 120 hp engines. The gasoline fans will have to settle for a not thrilling 1.4 litre, 95 hp engine, or for a bigger 1.6 litre developing 115 hp. There are available 5 and 6-speed manual transmission, and a 6-speed automatic transmission for the 1.6 liter engine.

The show will take place between 12 and 14 February and over 52.000 visitors are expected to come. There’s 16 percent more than the last year. The vintage cars exhibition is quite big: more than 1.000 exhibitors will show off their automotive products over more than 90.000 square meters.

At Abarth’s stand we can find the legend Abarth 595 Esseesse. It had been seen first time in 1963, and it’s a sportier variant of Fiat 500. It’s the Esseesse kit that makes it more powerful and agile than the 500 model: the Fiat’s 500cc engine originally produced 17.5 hp at 4.400 rpm, allowing it to reach 95 km/h. Abarth retuned the engine to produce a mighty 32 hp, for a 0-100km/h sprint in 24.7 sec. and a 1/4 of mile covered in 21.8 sec.! The top speed of the beast was 130 km/h.

Next to its grandpa, we’ll admire the young and powerful Abarth 595 Yamaha Factory Racing. It is the result of the second year’s cooperation between the Scorpion-badged brand and Movistar Yamaha. To upgrade the car, Abarth and Yamaha worked together to obtain 20 hp more, up to 160. There were fitted a BMC air filter, Eibach springs and Koni shock absorbers, 17 inch matt black rims and Monza Record exhaust.

Finally, a Fiat 124 Abarth Rally Gr. 4 will be shown during the exhibition. It’s equipped with a 1,756 cc engine, delivering 200 hp and, depending on the gearbox ratio, can top 170 km/h. This model claimed two victories at the European Rally Championship, and was second in the manufacturer’s ranking for four sesons in a row, starting from 1972.
The price for one ticket at this year’s 34th edition is 20€, and the schedule is Friday from 10am to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 7pm.
