The new top class in the WRC is called the Rally1, and the car presented by Hyundai is completely different from a technical point of view compared to previous years. As required by the new technical regulations, the new Hyundai race car will use a 1.6-liter turbo heat engine, which will be coupled to a 100-kilowatt electric motor. The 380-horsepower heat engine is the only component taken from the previous specification, the i20 WRC Coupe.

The hybrid system will be able to provide, for a few seconds, a boost of 134 horsepower. Thus, the maximum power of the engine is about 500 horsepower. The car will also have a braking energy regeneration system.

According to the new regulation, the heat engine will only operate in a special test mode, and the connection sections will be covered exclusively with the electric motor.

The new race car has a 5-speed sequential gearbox. The updated regulation no longer allows the use of a central differential, and the suspension has been amended and simplified in accordance with the technical regulation. Hyundai i20 N Rally1 2022 Edition weighs 70 kilograms more than the previous season’s car. In fact, all the cars in the Rally1 class will be heavier than those that competed in the WRC in previous years.

The Hyundai line of drivers will consist of Belgian Thierry Neuville and Estonian Ott Tanak, the 2019 WRC World Champion. Hyundai will also prepare a third car that will be shared between Spaniard Dani Sordo and Swede Oliver Solberg during the year. The Monte Carlo Rally is the first stage of the World Rally Championship and will take place on January 20-23.

Now, it is up to you to choose between the two of them. I for instance, I`d go for the Veloster Turbo, which is now more tuned and delivers plenty of power and torque.

The car`s main highlight is the company`s brand-new SmartSense active safety that comes standard on both versions. There is also the driver assistance feature that improves driving characteristics. Customers can also get the car`s standard 1.6-liter petrol engine with 135 PS.

The interior has also received a couple of new enhancements, like new colours for leather trims (Merlot Red, Grey and Black combinations), along with Black and Beige clothing trims. There is also the grey stitching and Merlot on the doors, as well as the black door panels with orange accents. Finally, a metal mesh covers the dashboard and provides the interior with a sporty feel.

Speaking of safety systems, the 2019 Hyundai Ioniq has been fitted with a plethora of new features which increase its driving comfort and safety.

We are dealing here with the new Driver Attention Alert and High Beam Assist for the standard variants. The higher trims also received natural-language voice recognition assistant and remote charge management for the Plug-in Hybrid and Electric variants. On the other side, the SEL trim also received Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist and Smart Cruise Control.

Visually, the 2019MY brings onboard a couple of new updates that separate the models. For instance, the Electric variant is highlighted by a new front fascia and new LED headlights. Inside, the cabin of the Ioniq now comes with recycled materials, along with an updated and more efficient air-conditioning system which minimizes waste. Standard in all versions is the top of the line infotainment system with plenty of new connectivity features.

As for the powertrains under the hood, all variants go separate ways. There are three versions, the hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric. The Hybrid Blue develops 139 horsepower and comes with a 58 mpg, while the plug-in hybrid comes with a 29 mile range and 160 horsepower. In the EV mode, the plug-in hybrid comes with a 119 MPGe, while the hybrid mode is set at 52 MPG. Finally, the Ioniq Electric has a range of 124 miles. The power stops at 118 horsepower, being sent to the wheels via a single-speed reduction-gear transmission. The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe comes with new visual enhancements like the “Cascading Grille” theme with two sets of headlights. The car`s structure is mainly made of high-strength steel, making it 15 percent more than the previous model.

The SUV is also bigger, now measuring 4.770 mm long, 1,680 mm tall and 1,890 m wide; the wheelbase also stands at 2,765 mm, with 185 mm of ground clearance. This means that the interior space has also been increased. The total boot-space is 625 liter, with second row legroom also growing to 28 mm, while the headroom for the third-row passengers is now increased by 22 mm.

Following previous spy photos with the model undergoing tests near the Ring, in Germany, the South Korean based company has now released the first image with the car`s shape, which indicates that the future Santa Fe will sport an evolutionary design with advanced characteristics.

We are dealing here with the fourth-generation Santa Fe that will arrive at this year`s Geneva Motor Show with new design lines borrowed from the Tucson or the US-bound Kona model. Besides the headlights borrowed from the Kona, it looks like the new Santa Fe will also come with daytime running lights with LED strip across the top, while the main headlight beam will be located lower down.

Moving to the back, the all-new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe will also adopt a sportier look thanks to the new wheels arches, also seen on the Californian-based Kona model. It gives the new Santa Fe a tougher look, while the new taillights wrapped around the sides with big seamless glass area for the windows, also provide an off-road attitude.

The new model will also keep the existence 2.2-liter turbo-diesel, but perhaps it might receive a power input.
