From August 2016 on, all the cars in Scion portfolio will be sold under Toyota name. In its entire existence, Scion achieved its goal, managing to bring Toyota new young costumers. With over one million cars sold, 70% of Scion customers were new to Toyota. More, 50% of them were under 35 years old. But, if it was that successful, why close Scion? Well, Toyota say that, in time, Toyota cars became more stylish and therefore the existence of Scion can’t be justified anymore.

Toyota attributes fulfill every young costumer’s wish: they produce fun-to-drive, good-looking, dynamic and reliable cars, so they cover most of the market, including the young costumers. The average customers’ age is 36 years old, making Scion the youngest brand on the auto market. More, tC sports coupe’s buyers average 29 year old, which makes it the youngest-pointed car in the industry. The most recent models, the iA sedan and iM hatchback attracted new customers, for 70% of clients being their first new car. Half of the customers are under 35 years old.

Let’s look at the future of Scion models: FR-S, iA and iM will be rebadged. tC will be discontinued in August 2016. The C-HR, recently revealed at L.A. Auto Show, will become a part of Toyota model range. None of the service, repair and warranty process for Scion cars will be affected by the rebadge. This the official version. My version is not as happy: unfortunately, Scion sold lesser cars over the last years and eventually all the lack of success killed the brand. I’m sorry for the brand itself as much I’m sorry for all its employees…

The Scion C-HR Concept was first previewed at the 2014 Paris Motor Show and recently at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show and its presence here in Los Angeles indicates that the model will lead the way for the future Toyota`s second generation C-HR.

Toyota will sell the C-HR in the United States later next year, under the Scion moniker, after its official debut at the 2016 Geneva Auto Show.

The new C-HR will be based on the carmaker`s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture), the same found on the upcoming Prius, with the possibility of being offered as a plug-in hybrid as well.

The Toyota C-HR might take its look from the Scion C-HR Concept, coming with “a diamond with sheered sides”, but with a reduced sized and set of wheels. These ones here are sized 21 inches.

More details with the future Toyota CH-R model are rather limited but we should find out more about it next year, in Geneva. Meanwhile enjoy the video presentation with the Scion CH-R Concept!

The Scion iM Concept is gorgeous from my point of view, as it comes with an exquisite blue paint with matte silver, which perfectly suits the aggressive body kit and a few more interesting features.

Since it is regarded as a sports car, the body is now lowered and fitted with height adjustable racing suspension, four piston brake calipers or vented front rotors.

More performance tweaks include a trapezoidal exhaust system with is centrally positioned, slim side mirrors or the 19-inch forged alloy wheels fitted with high-performance racing tires.

There are no fresh news concerning the engine under the hood, but we might predict the 1.8-liter unit, developing 132 horsepower and 170 Nm of torque. Stay tuned as there is more to come next week in Los Angeles.

With prices starting from $29,990, the American model comes with a 2.0-liter boxer engine producing 200 horses and 205 Nm of torque. It is linked to a six-speed manual transmission but an automatic one is available as well.

At the exterior, buyers will get a special Yuzu exterior finish, HID headlamps with LED daytime running lights, new side fender garnish and a revised rear spoiler.

Interior features include black seats, dual-zone climate control system, smart key and a TRD steering wheel.

The shift knob is also borrowed from Toyota Racing Development, as most of the parts of the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0. The new model will be built in a limited run of 1,500 units, with the automatic one starting from $31,090.

These two-color exteriors cost a premium $500 over the starting price. Priced at $24,700, the 2014 Scion FR-S benefits from a new center console and revised door panels.

These pricing figures are available for the manual model while opting of a six-speed automatic gearbox will cost you $25,800.

The 2014 Scion iQ is now available in Black Currant Metallic exterior with new floor mats and specials alloy wheels. The model begins at $16,520 with a total of 150 units to be produced.

“All 2014 Scion models will come standard with the Scion Display Audio System featuring a 6.1-inch LCD touchscreen, AM/FM/CD/HD Radio™ technology,” adds the company.

Scion’s FR-S model is getting its own back at them with the help of the SEMA show. The custom car event in Vegas is the perfect place for Scion as a brand.

In the past they’ve had some pretty ludicrously tuned machinery showcased here, in order to capture the mind of the younger crowds.

This year’s edition Scion will be coming in at a much more focused level as it takes over the sporting side of the FR-S.

Three cars will have been done up, each taking a different look, a different color and varying aggressiveness in the kits.

If you were running the streets you’d call these the steps you take in order to evolve up to a really fast car.

If you were among the Playstation/NFS folks, you could label these as LVL1>LVL3 exterior packages. This is no joke though.

Even though the engine performance is the same and nothing else about the Scion FR-S has changed in terms of power, these cars are impressively tweaked.

They’re called the Carbon Stealth FR-S, FR-S GT and the Minty FReSh model. Each of them are called after their exterior finish but there are a few similarities.

All get a range of toys fitted to the interior, wider tires and some larger wheels. Impressively there’s a supercharger kit in their future.

The package is focused around the Scion tC model and when fully fitted it’s considerably well priced with the RS 8.0 costing just under 22.000 USD.

The exact price is actually $21.815 and you’ll have to strap an extra $730 for destination charges or, if you wish to, you can ad another 1050 dollars to get yourself an automatic transmission.

These are just nitpicks actually. In reality, Scion’s tC RS 8.0 has more going for it than the low price that’s friendly to folks without deep pockets.

There’s just such a long name it actually sounds cool. That matters more than anything at an young age, the branding on the stuff you own.

With that in mind, you’ll make sure everybody knows that the body kit on your new Scion tC RS 8.0 was created by Five Axis Design.

The fact that you have TRD performance parts may also come up alongside the limited edition factor. Only 2000 cars of this type will ever be made.

Getting yourself one at a low price and with all those brand names included matters considerably more than the unimpressive 2.5 liter four pot with 180 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque.

You might actually get distracted from the fat yourself if you get it in this Absolute Red shade that’s so striking.

Unfortunately, the company announced that we talk about a one-off model which won’t enter the series production.

Under the bonnet sits the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine able to deliver 200 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque.

The Californian tuner kept the performance figures unaltered but completely modified the interior of the car. However, Cartel Customs fitted the model with a new KW suspension, GReedy sports exhaust system and also with the ACT clutch.

The concept model also features a two-seat configuration along with a completely revised interior. Cartel Customs opted for 18-inch forged wheels with 225/40/18 (front) and 245/40/18 (rear) tires, new sport seats and dashboard.

As you probably observed, there is a new two-color exterior finish, revised front fenders and hood, a massive carbon fiber rear wing and new Wilwood brakes with 13″ SRP drilled and slotted two piece rotors.
