Joke aside, MINI has recently announced the arrival of a special Cooper, the gorgeous model receiving the Kensington Edition which enhances its looks and adds a couple of new tweaks inside the cabin.

About the introduction of the new MINI Cooper Kensington Edition on the local market, Brett Waudby, who is the general manager at MINI Australia, declared:

“We like to showcase what`s unique about the brand, and continue telling the story of exclusivity and personalization while retaining that MINI sense of fun. With Kensington we have taken this a step further by offering customers the ability to secure their allocation online. With only 60 units coming, the race is on.”

In Australia, the Cooper Kensington Edition is offered in the Cooper and Cooper S, both with 3- and 5-door configurations, and adorned with plenty of stand-out visual enhancements, luxury features and technology at its best inside the cabin.

For instance, customers will be able to get the model with the Pure Burgundy paintjob, the same one found on the Clubman, along with a choice of 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels with Victory or Cosmo spoke patterns, and finally one-off LED headlights, Union Jack taillights, black JCW rear spoiler and panoramic sunroof. Other highlights also include black roof and side mirrors, black exterior highlights, and a couple more.

However, the read deal of the Kensington Edition package is inside the cabin. There are plenty of high-end materials and the latest high-tech gadgetries. The luxury feel of the new edition is given by the cool illuminated door sills, lounge leather upholstery in carbon black, MINI Yours leather steering wheel, seat heating, along with the optional Chrome Line interior package. The gadgetries include an 8.8-inch touch-screen interface with Navigation Plus and MINI Find Mate tags.

First off, let`s talk a bit the model`s size, as it is rather the same with the European model, despite some rumors stating the opposite. The model is sitting on a 2,567 mm wheelbase, being 3,982 – 4,005 mm long, 1,727 mm wide and 1,425 mm high.

Second, the model will come available with four-non metallic and nine metallic colors, while inside, the MINI 5-door will sport a lot of interesting tweak, like the Head-Up Display, the MINI Connected infotainment system and a few more.

The MINI 5-door is also doing well under the hood, where the model will receive the 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged Cooper S unit, developing 134 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque.

A higher 2.0-liter four-cylinder will be available as well, developing 189 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque.

Louis de Fabribeckers, the head design form Touring Superleggera, proudly stated that the main purpose of the MINI Vision Concept is to provide performance through the car`s lightweight and efficiency.

This project would have not been possible without the joint forces of the Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera and the British based MINI carmaker, with the model also setting the grounds for a future successor.

MINI has already announced that the fresh-new Countryman based on the 2013 Countryman model, will be ready to hit the event in April.

The updated 2015 MINI Countryman will be coming with some tweaks of its own, but with minor changes to the body resembling the latest Cooper Hardtop.

The 2015 MINI Countryman will also get the high-tech goodies found on the Cooper Hardtop, such as the fresh new MINI Connected infotainment system, electronic driver aids and the famous head-up display.

The 2015 MINI Countryman will be manufactured with the fresh-new BMW X1 crossover, riding on the German automaker`s UKL Platform. Under the hood, there will be a three- and four-cylinder units.

There will also be a fresh Countryman version to enter production somewhere in 2016 or 2017, since the aforementioned tweaks are the latest updates being put on the 2015 model, before the 2016 model up-ahead.

The third-generation MINI Cooper in Australia starts from 26,650 AUD, for the version being equipped with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine, developing 100 kW and 220 Nm of torque.

The new entry-level enhances 10 kW and 60 Nm of torque more than the base entry-level, as it is equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine, with a greater fuel-efficiency of 4.7l/100 km.

The 2014 MINI Cooper also comes with a diesel engine, with prices to start from 31,800 AUD for the Cooper D, which develops 85 kW and 270 Nm of torque. The D version has a fuel consumption of 3,7l/100 km.

The other diesel version, the Cooper S is more expensive than the D version, costing 36,950 AUD. This one is easy to distinguish since it bears a more aggressive rear bumper, twin central tailpipes, a bonnet scoop or a honeycomb radiator grille.

Under the hood, the MINI Copper S sports a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, developing 141 kW and 280 Nm of torque.

The officials presented us a concept of Mini that tries to get up on the premium segment with its creative design features and the enhanced user experience.

One look at the new Mini Vision and we have the vision of a particular combo between a slightly vintage exterior and a completely modern, futurist even, interior. Speaking of futurism, certain features of the latest Mini concept are brand new.

Headlamps of the new Mini will be 100% made from LEDs and the exterior finish is called Glamorous Gold – quite a suggestive name, is it not?

Obviously, the Englishmen have their own strategy, making fun of the “compromised situation” in which the new Mini Cooper was photographed, during a “private moment”, just like it happens to the most important personalities in the United Kingdom!

The special model will be auctioned at the Life Ball AIDS charity event with all the proceeds to be used in combating AIDS.

The well-known fashion designer decided to give the British model a special iridescent paint with gold accents. The roof, wheels, plates, side mirrors and bezels receive this special finish while inside we find the same color scheme with black leather seats and yellow stitching.

Of course, the special Paceman gets Cavalli logos, animal prints, leather steering wheel and revised instrument cluster. The British model will clearly stand out on the streets therefore, we expect to see a quite high selling price after the auction.

It remains to be seen if the exquisite special model will be appreciated by the bidders and will collect enough money.
