Not everything that’s going to be showcased at the Paris Motor Show is going to be pretty. The Germans at Porsche will be there with a new Cayenne.

It’s come along way the sporty SUV, it now looks halfway decent, but it’s far from a design showstopper. What Porsche did with the engine isn’t going to help too much either.

The plan is to unveil a new Cayenne S at the location, one that comes with a diesel engine. Anybody feeling glamorous at this point?

Before we completely slack it off let’s not forget that the V6 powered Cayenne diesel is running what’s one of the most refined oil burners ever made.

With the plastering of the “S” badge to the end of the name quite a lot of things have changed. Unlike usual Porsche minimalist changes to the size of the engine, this time it’s completely new.

Direct injection and turbocharging come together with 4.2 liter V8 to create 382 horsepower and 627 pound feet of torque.

It’s a new engine for Porsche. However, much like the other diesel choice, if you scratch this one’s badge you might find an Audi logo underneath.

This engine was once used in the Audi A8 limousine so it manages to shift around the biggish SUV quite nicely. It does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds and tops out at 157 mph.

Just as impressive as the performance is the way the Cayenne S can manage 28.3 mpg and only emits 218 g of CO2/km.

Pricing in Europe for this monster of torque will start at around 78.000 euros.
