Is there any way to slow down the rhythm at which car enthusiasts criticize the current (and very likely future) trend involving electric cars?

I find it hard to say anything other than no but the truth is that at some point the jokes are going to run out and the EVs will very likely get to be great cars.

Until then however, cars like the Renault Zoe will have to fight out of the ridicule by fighting in with new records such as these ones.

The small French city car has just set a new record for the longest distance ever to be traveled by an electric car within 24 hours.

It makes sense to have such a record on a weekend that has the all-important Le Mans 24 hour race going on doesn’t it?

The Renault Zoe managed to travel a total of 1005 miles over the 24 hour period. It all sounds remarkable but really nothing has changed about the Zoe.

In order to achieve this record the Renault Zoe has had to be charged no less than 18 times. Naturally, it wasn’t the standard charge time that was used.

The typical use of the Renault Zoe indicates a maximal range of 130 miles so it seems that the stats are the same for the French record setter.

You still get 89 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque worth of electric motor and a op speed of “just 135 mph”.

The new record it set is for a considerably longer range than the previous unit by some 210 miles. That’s the kind of distance that most EVs require two extra charges for the process.
