The Germans from Audi are working hard on the upgraded version of the Audi R8 LMS GT3, a racing car which brought several victories for the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer.

The new Audi R8 GRAND-AM represents a high performance racing car based on the previous R8 LMS GT3, a model designed for next year’s Daytona 24 Hours.
Actually, the Germans will compete with two vehicles at the well-known American competition which starts early next year, namely at the second half of January.

If we compare the old model to the new Audi R8 GRAND-AM we will clearly see some obvious modifications. In order to increase the downforce, Audi mounted a new rear air diffuser, front splitter but also changed the ground clearance of the racing car.
“The durability of wearing parts and runs at high outside temperatures meet challenging demands. We can now provide our racing customers with concrete advice and reference values for fielding the car,” said the Head of Customer Sport, Romolo Liebchen.

The fast development of the new racing car was also possible thanks to Frank Stippler, a development driver who completed around 1000 test kilometers in order to ensure that the model behaves flawless.
