Remember those winter mornings when you go to the car and find the windshield wipers stuck to the glass? Or when they don’t wipe perfectly, leaving water trails, because of the ice deposits? They’re about to remain only a memory, thanks to Ford’s windshield wiper de-icer.

There are some inventions that make you think: why didn’t they came up earlier with this brilliant idea? Why winter after winter we had to pull the wipers off the windshield in the evening? It doesn’t matter anymore, because there’s a new system that melts the ice and snow on the wipers and it’s available in Ford Escape SUVs sold in Canada. Soon, it will migrate also to US and there will be a short time until we’ll find it in Europe, too. Basically, the system is very simple and effective: the lower part of the windshield is fitted with a heater element. After turning it on, it starts heating, taking less than ten minutes to melt the ice at a minus 28°C (-18 degrees Fahrenheit)! Ford specialists say that once you start to use it, you’ll wonder how you ever got along without its help.

In Canada, it comes as a part of the Cold Weather Package, along with supplemental powertrain conditioning heater, all-weather floor mats, heated seats and heated side mirrors. In the US market, it will be also available for other cars in Ford lineup starting this year.
